I had dream last night that I was arguing passionately about how I didn’t think Andre Dubencork’s artwork, with it’s crude pink elephants, was original or compelling. It is so cliché. But my friends insisted that’s the point, and that is why he is such a great artist, whom all the critics admire. We could never agree and wound up shouting at each other over the true nature of art.
